Mrs. Francis Maria Hannah, daughter of Curtis C. and Mrs. Vanissa Smalley Baldwin, was b. in Lennox, Hamilton County, NY. April 28, 1835. For a number of years her health has been failing, and while it has been known for some time that she could not recover, yet the end came as a shock to her many friends when it became known that she had passed away Sun. night Oct. 17. At the time of her death her age was 80years 5 months and 19 days. Mrs. Hanna is survived by two sisters, Miss Mary E. Baldwin and Mrs. Julia B. Higgins of Howard, NY. Miss Baldwin has made her home with her sister for 40 years. Mrs. Hanna moved from NY to Indiana in 1860, locating at Crawfordsville. She was marr. to Adam P. Hanna Dec. 27, 1871. Mr. & Mrs. Hanna were blessed with two daughters, Mary Elizabeth and Mrs. Sara V. Bail, Mary Eliz. dying in infancy. Mr. & Mrs. Hanna moved from Crawfordsville to the Robert Tapp farm near Waveland in Aug 1880, where they lived for 23 years, moving into Waveland 19803. In the fall of 1909 they moved to Shelbyville, Ind where their daughter was engaged in teaching in the high school. Mr. Hanna passed away at Shelbyville Jan 19, 1912 and was buried at Crawfordsville. Mrs. Hanna returned to Waveland the first of this year, making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Vail. At the age of 16, Mrs. Hanna became a follower of Christ, uniting with the Presbyterian Church in her NY home. After moving to Crawfordsville she united with the Center Presbyterian Church and later with the Waveland and Shelbyville Presbyterian Churches. She made it the practice of her life to move her Church membership when she moved. In recent years she has been deprived of the privilege of active Christian work, but her interest in, and prayers for, the cause of Christ never failed nor grew less fervent. She has come to her grave in a full age, like as a shock of grain cometh in its season. Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter Mrs. UG Vail, on Tuesday afternoon in charge of Rev. Horace N. Spear, pastor of First Baptist Church, Shelbyville. - kbz
